KIMBERLY DAVIS

Diva vocalist Kimberly Davis keeps the D1 Music mantra of infusing dance floors with electrifying music alive with her new hands-in-the-air club anthem, GET UP. The song, featuring club remixes by D1 Music, John Rizzo, William Umana, DJ Man, ameda, Tony “Soulbeats” Smith, and the Oxford Hustlers, is Ms. Davis’ first release with D1 Music. This week, Get Up shot up the chart to the number one position on Masterbeat.com, where it is also available for purchase.

“Get Up" is about getting off your ass and getting things done,” said Brooklyn-born Kimberly Davis from her recording studio in Manhattan. “I’ve learned that if you stand still, the earth keeps moving so you better catch up and make your presence known. Life is too precious to let pass by.”

Kimberly Davis has never been one to sit. In her musical career, she’s performed for audiences throughout the world: from Argentina to Ireland, Scotland to Spain, even Russia.

After completing Manhattan’s fabled High School of Performing Arts, the school that inspired the movie Fame, Davis became a back-up singer for popular 90’s house group, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam. After the group broke up, she went on to sing behind artists like Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Rob Thomas, Deborah Cox, and Mary Wilson.

Today, Kimberly says she is ready to step up from behind the mic and claim it as her own. In addition to releasing her first solo single and preparing her first solo album, she is the lead singer for Nile Rodgers’ classic disco group Chic.

“We perform all the classic Nile Rodgers songs including "Everybody Dance," "Le Freak," "Good Times", "I'm Coming Out", "We Are Family" and even "Like A Virgin" which Nile wrote,” explains Davis.

“Get Up" is similar to those classics in that it is a song with high energy flavor that will still be relevant years from now”, she continues.

"Get Up" is expected to be another smash in D1Music’s already impressive line-up of hits. The label released last year’s Billboard hit Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now by Taborah & Darryl D’Bonneau and Lisa Hunt’s Top 5 Billboard hit “This Joint Is Jumpin”, featured on the popular TV show, Queer As Folk. D1 Music also unleashed the critically acclaimed mixed compilation Mixpoint by John Rizzo and the Club Christmas collection— remixed takes on holiday classics. The Club Christmas albums hit the iTunes Top 50 Albums chart last year.
